EXPORTS

The quantity of rice exported during 1993 is about 250.000 tons. The majority of rice

exports are handled by the private sector which buys milled rice from public sector plants

for export.

The percentages of self sufficiency for grains and pulses are given in Table (5). Data show

that percent of self sufficiency of wheat, rice, and beans is 50.5, 106.6, and 69.1, during

1992/93, respectively. This percentage is increased during 1987-1993 for wheat from

29% to 50.5%.
